COUPLER LIFT ASSIST DEVICES (CLAD’s) SUCCESSFULLY EVALUATED UNDER EI 1576 PROTOCOL
A pit coupler lift-assist device (CLAD) shall only be used if there is the written approval of the hydrant pit coupler manufacturer for the use of the specific model of CLAD in conjunction with its model of hydrant pit coupler as a combined unit, (based on the coupler manufacturer’s evaluation of the suitability of the CLAD in as-new condition for use in conjunction with the specific model of hydrant pit coupler in accordance with EI 1576 Hydrant pit coupler lift assist device testing protocol).
The following hydrant pit coupler manufacturers have confirmed that they have successfully evaluated the EI 1584 4th Edition, section 3.9.3 breakaway requirements of their hydrant couplers in combination with the CLADS shown below, using the EI 1576 protocol.
