To help mitigate the risk of serious incidents happening and to protect staff from work-related fatalities, it is good practice to implement a standard set of rules that are easy to understand and to follow. These are commonly known as Life-Saving Rules. A study by the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP) suggests that from 2008 to 2017, 376 lives could have been saved via the implementation and adherence to this set of 9 rules (Source: IOGP report 459; August 2018).
